The Routebureau Veluwe is a joint project of twenty municipalities: Apeldoorn, Arnhem, Barneveld, Brummen, Ede, Elburg, Epe, Ermelo, Harderwijk, Hattem, Heerde, Nijkerk, Nunspeet, Oldebroek, Putten, Renkum, Rheden, Rozendaal, Voorst and Wageningen. On behalf of these municipalities, the municipalities of Apeldoorn and Ermelo are acting as network managers.
Assignment
For the signs of the Veluwe cycle route network, the Routebureau Veluwe gekozen voor fietsrouteborden van BioPanel. Op termijn is het de bedoeling dat alle bestaande aluminium fietsrouteborden bij einde levensduur worden vervangen door de milieuvriendelijke en circulaire fietsrouteborden van BioPanel. BioPanel is een plaatmateriaal dat volledig wordt gemaakt uit hernieuwbare grondstoffen industriële hennep en PLA. Doordat de hennep lokaal wordt verbouwd en BioPanel plaatmateriaal op relatief lage temperatuur kan worden geproduceerd zorgt BioPanel voor 99% minder CO2-uitstoot dan aluminium. Bovendien is BioPanel plaatmateriaal recyclebaar én biodegradeerbaar. Ook de bestickering is milieuvriendelijk. Hiervoor wordt gebruik gemaakt van een PVC vrije folie, waarop een full colour print aangebracht waarna de print wordt voorzien van een PVC vrije beschermlaminaat. Het printen op een PVC vrije folie is veel milieuvriendelijker dan bijvoorbeeld een zeefdrukmethode.
Result
1150 BioPanel bicycle route signs have now been made in various formats for the Routebureau Veluwe.
This has reduced 4380 kg/CO2. This is equivalent to the CO2 absorption of 219 trees that grow for a year.
About BioPanel
BioPanel is a sustainable, circular and biodegradable plastic sheet material that is suitable for many different applications. BioPanel consists of 100% biobased materials with components such as industrial hemp and a thermoplastic biopolymer of lactic acid (PLA). These are rapidly renewable vegetable raw materials, which can largely be produced locally. The production of BioPanel results in up to 99% less CO2 emissions compared to conventional materials. In addition, the use of BioPanel prevents residual waste.
